YGH designed and provided construction documentation for the seven building embassy compound in Quito to meet security and zoning requirements as well as relate to its site and cultural context. The buildings are oriented to maximize daylighting and define a series of external courtyards recalling Colonial Spanish and native Ecuadorian architecture. The Chancery Building is designed to meet the State Department’s World Wide Building Program requirements and includes a central atrium to introduce daylighting to interior public areas. The project is designed to meet LEED Silver Standards. YGH provided assistance during the construction phase.
