A community-driven initiative drove the conceptual design for a new YMCA in Tigard, Oregon. The 110,000 SF facility was envisioned as the “anchor” for downtown, providing a community center with inclusive activities for all: exercise gyms; indoor track; splash, therapy and lap pools; indoor basketball and volleyball; community live theater; 340 seat community hall and meeting room with catering kitchen; coffee shop; onsite childcare; teen center and classrooms. The $28 million building would have been paid for via a one time bond opportunity.
