Burt Hall is a 1960’s era laboratory building at Oregon State University that is home to the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences. It sustained a fire in late 2018. We helped OSU put it back together with healthy materials and a colorful palette. The color scheme on each of the three floors represents either Earth, Ocean, or Atmosphere. The three schemes provide way-finding cues while brightening the previously dark hallways. Glazing was added on the interior to pull natural light deep into spaces, and provide transparency into labs, showcasing the valuable research being done. Wall graphics, also help with way-finding, give insight into the building functions, and provide interest to a previously monochrome interior.
