Mart Schaefer

AIA, LEED Green Associate

Mart grew up as a military brat, spending his childhood in England, the Philippines, Montana and West Germany. He started a career in graphic design while an undergraduate at the University of Northern Colorado and worked for a number of publications and firms before finally starting his own studio in Denver. After moving to Portland in 2000, his interests shifted toward the built environment, and he earned a B.A. in Architecture and an M.Arch from Portland State University. Since then, Mart has focused his efforts on several K-12 projects.

When not at work, he and his partner enjoy driving around the Pacific Northwest visiting libraries and looking for new places to eat. He also enjoys playing doom metal bass and creating human-guided, AI-generated digital collage, paintings and sculptures.
